the biebs

once upon a time adrienne had the genius idea that we should get together a group of girls to see the biebs in concert at the barclays center. it was a good call.

since I am the queen of making themed tee shirts for any occasion I pulled together some purple tees and we made some jb magic.

its true, i'm a belieber!
countdown.
we sat in the worlds worst seats and sang/danced out hearts out.
there he goes.
there was major ab action, but we weren't mad about it.
& that pretty much sums up our night of acting like 13 year olds

happy fashion week

little black dress print via blimbcat on etsy

love this time of year in nyc! I can't wait for fashion's night out tomorrow.
last year was BA NAN AS!

planning to stalk both bethenny frankel and then emily maynard at macys before heading to soho for some shopping.

CANT WAIT!

silent disco

the combs always keep us in the know about great things to do in the city. they've been to the lincoln center's midsummer night swing for a few years so I knew it must be good. I've been wanting go every summer, but never got around to it. plus since slade was going I knew I could rope jordan in. bingo! midsummer night swing usually ends at 10pm, but we stayed for the silent disco. there were two battling DJs broadcasting on two channels to the wireless headphones everyone got at the dance floor entrance. you could switch back and forth depending on who was playing what you liked. it was SO MUCH FUN. the crowd made their own music singing and dancing along to our headphones. it was pretty cool.

billie jean, can you tell?

as a reward for andrea and I braving the soul train we topped the night off with a trip to sev.
last night slurps and a few jelly donuts.

I don't care what anyone says/thinks, I'd pay good money to go back in time and relive my hs dances... prom, homecoming, winter formal, morp! we had some real good times. who's with me?

seize the day!

last week andrea & I scored orchestra seats to newsies!!! I loved every single minute. (although they did make some changes I wouldn't have made, but I won't spoil it.)

a couple highlights:
evan, alex, jess (some of my favorites from sytycd) were in the production. oh my can those guys dance!
- seeing travis wall and that girl from glee
- andrea & I sharing twizzlers, preztels, pringles, and sourpatch kids. YUM
- watching the grown man and his wife, in front of us, leap out of the chairs in a standing ovation at the end of the show. andrea asked if they knew somone in the show and the man said, "no, I wish!"
- the music and dancing of course
I'll never stop loving you jack kelly!

scary eyes

a few weeks ago marylynn came to town for a short visit. it was so good to see her/enjoy a night out with the girls. really and truly miss her a lot. nyc is such a transient place, we've seen numerous friends come and go. it's always hard to see them move on, but I've been so glad to have made friends who have become family.

let the games begin

did I mention that I like to go to the movies, especially midnight movies. oh yeah I think I did.
so naturally after securing tickets to the midnight hunger games showing erica and I made shirts. we followed these instructions which made it look easier than it is, but they came out pretty good. then we stamped "may the odds ever be in your favor" on back for good measure!
happy hunger games!

wish I'd gotten a group shot.
also wish I hadn't been forced to wake up at 6:30am for a trip to DC after getting home at 3:30am after the movie. that was rough, but worth it.

bon appetit

before marylynn & scott left us (tear) we all went and took a cooking class at the culinary institute. it was INTENSE. I came away with a whole new appreciation for chefs.
this was our menu:
Classic Shrimp Cocktail
 Clams Casino
Grilled New York Strip with Beurre Maître d’
Filet Mignon au Poivre with Cognac-Cream Sauce
Grilled Center-Cut Double Pork Chops with Bourbon-Mustard Glaze
 Caesar Salad
 Leaf Spinach with Cream Sauce
 Whipped Truffled Potatoes
and Almond Bread Pudding with Brandy Sauce
we worked pretty dang hard for about 4 hours.
one of the best parts for me was watching the chef work. he never set a timer or measured anything. he would reach right into a pot of boiling water to poke a potato, it was miraculous to watch him work using his super chef senses and instincts.
J was pretty good too! :)
at the end we all sat down and ate our hearts out! don't worry this was just one of the many plates J and I shared. after four hours of cooking in a kitchen like that we were starved and we definitely feasted!

winters eve

carrying on with the catching up, winters eve 2011:
every year they have a winter celebration in Columbus Circle/Lincoln Center to kick off the holidays. there's live music, tons of food and plenty of merriment.
erica and I met up for our after work sbux ritual and then wandered the streets munching and chatting.
we ran into a bunch of different friends from the neighborhood and slade snapped a few pictures for us. I love stuff like that about this city.

fun winter times.

why, yes I did

I somehow wrangled the girls into joining me for the midnight breaking dawn showing.
we arrived a mere two hours early in our converse (& me in my pjs) with our totes of goodies/snacks in hand.
If I was being honest (which I clearly I am) I'd tell you I did let out a cheer when the hunger games preview showed up. I surprised even myself with the excitement I felt for that one.
we had a pretty good time chit-chatting, snacking, movie watching, & jacob loving. then we carried our tired selves home. finally at 3am I shut my little eyelids and passed out.

waking up today was a little rough. (my first words may or may not have been I'm so tired I'm gonna puke) for some strange reason jordan was making cookies at 645am this morning (blatantly disregarding my pleas to "pipe down")... but I must say if you have to wake up to a twilight hangover that's the way to do it.
the smell of warm cookies is a cure-all.

BEP

back in september we were lucky enough to get tickets (through my fabulous job) to attend the robin hood benefit concert in central park. it was a once in a lifetime experience.
we started with the cocktail party
then headed to the VIP section
(the lighting here makes us look a little strange... cant win em all)
& we brought along some friends
will.i.am was ridiculously awesome
I forgot how many great songs they have. we were all seriously busting a move!
fergie ferg

with about 4 or 5 songs left it started raining. at first just a little and with all the stage lighting it looked like glitter everywhere. then it got heavier and heavier. it was kinda sweet with the loud music and dancing barefoot in the grass, but by the time we got home we were soaked. I don't mean pretty much wet I mean every inch 100% drenched.
hence the sad face and the red toes. yes I walked all half way home barefoot during the thickest rain I've ever witnessed before we finally caught a cab.

it was an unforgettable night.

BNO

awhile back I roped erica into going to bloggers night out with me.
after sweltering the whole way there in my wide leg jeans and sweater, I tied (literally tied) my hair in a knot and put on my party face.
(expression above it not said "party" face it's the "event photographer keeps taking photos of us and I awkwardly don't know what to do" face)

we had a blast though.
erica got to meet some of her blogging idols and I won a free pair of shoes.

YAY blogging!

FNO

every year during fashion week nyc kicks the events off with basically a big shopping party called fashions night out.
stores have sales, guest events, and live models. plus a DJ and giveaways. Its pretty fun. so andrea and I started the night at bloomies to meet RZ.
let me tell you this:
 it was MA-JOR
my post work hair and rainy day outfit were not so major, but I don't think rach minded.
she's such a gem.
cheers to dawn for getting in there and snapping this pic of me expressing my love and devotion to RZ.

spoiler alert: if you are watching this season Jeremiah totally makes the cut as he was working the event :)
